PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It turns out UPS uses fake iPhones, AirPods, and other Apple gear to nab UPS employees who take instead of deliver. It appears the four men seen in the image above are takers, not givers, and part of a larger criminal conspiracy — At least according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
According to multiple arrest reports filed by PBSO detectives, the men seen above were involved with a scheme to intercept roughly $52,000 worth of iPhones and related gear in South Florida. The men allegedly created “ghost labels” while in a UPS facility in Palm Beach County that used addresses flagged by a UPS security system. UPS loss prevention notified the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office which then intercepted the already intercepted phones. Detectives placed trackers in the boxes which already included several fake phones, and then watched as the phones (and trackers) were delivered to an address in West Palm Beach.
The people at that address then took the phones to Boost Mobile. It was unclear whether they then attempted to sell the phones to Boost, or have the phones activated to resell. It didn’t matter. PBSO detectives moved in and took everyone into custody.
Joseph Nunnally, Payton Brooker, Christopher Ventress are all charged with organized scheme to defraud. Fouad Saleh is charged wit grand theft, obtaining property by fraud, tamper with physical evidence, and dealing in stolen property. They all live in Palm Beach County.
