BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A bicyclist was struck and killed south of Boca Raton by a driver who fled the scene. Police are now asking for anyone with information about the crash to come forward. The Broward Sheriff’s Office shared this information with BocaNewsNow.com:
At approximately 3:08 a.m., on Tuesday June 4, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a hit-and-run near the 2700 block of North Dixie Highway. BSO district deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded. Emergency personnel pronounced the bicyclist deceased on scene. BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives responded and are currently investigating this incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling northbound on North Dixie Highway within the dedicated bicycle lane. The subject’s vehicle, identified as a 2018 Lexus IS300 (F-Sport), was also traveling northbound when it entered the bicycle lane and stuck the bicyclist. The subject then drove away from the scene.
