BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The fatal motorcycle wreck in West Boca Raton on Saturday was caused by that motorcyclist speeding, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

PBSO, which has not yet identified the victim, says the Hispanic Male was on a 2012 Honda NC700 and “traveling westbound in the outside through lane on Judge Winikoff Road at a high rate of speed approaching Hammock Street” around 11:43 a.m. That’s when Ralph Lotta, driving a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, was “traveling eastbound on Judge Winikoff within the left turn lane, making a left turn onto Hammock Street to travel north.”

Investigators believe that as the Crosstrek was conducting the left turn, the motorcyclist “struck the passenger side of the Crosstrek. The Crosstrek rotated toward the north side of the intersection, coming to a final rest within the southbound lane of Hammock Street, facing in the southerly direction. As the crash ensued, the motorcyclist was re-directed off of the motorcycle and struck the passenger side of the Crosstrek.”

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not identified the victim. Liotta, the Crosstrek driver, did not sustain injuries. No charges have been filed.
