BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Another resident of Broken Sound Country Club in Boca Raton is facing foreclosure over unpaid fees and dues. A lawsuit was just filed in Palm Beach County Civil Court and obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.
The suit, filed by The Banyans at Broken Sound, alleges that homeowner John Laughlin hasn’t paid his mandated fees and dues in more than a year. From assessments to parking violations, late fees to administrative fees, the community association alleges that Laughlin owes $5209.76. The suit claims he’s been notified multiple times over the past eighteen months but has either neglected — or refused — to pay.
Laughlin, whose mailing address is in Indianapolis, IN, is the registered owner of 2321 NW 66th Drive which he acquired in November of 2021 for $59,000. It’s not immediately clear how he obtained this property at such a reduced rate — total market value is $430,080 according to the Palm Beach County Property Assessor. The home is 3020 square feet.
The Banyans at Broken Sound Property Owners’ Association, Inc., is represented by Sachs Sachs Caplan. No attorney of record was listed for John Laughlin as of Tuesday, June 18th, 2024.

Not sure why you think these are newsworthy. HOAs are funded solely by owners’ assessments. When one fails to pay, others have to make it up. State laws require HOAs to enforce their governing docs and collect past due amounts. You seem to like to shames communities for doing what they have to do. And you shame the owner without knowing their circumstances. Filing an action is just part of the process and no one ever lets their property go to satisfy a relatively small lien.
