BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for strong thunderstorms Friday afternoon in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth Beach, and across much of the region. This is the advisory:
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Atlantic coastal waters, southeast Florida, southern Florida, southwest Florida and Gulf of Mexico.
. DAY ONE… Today and tonight.
Thunderstorms: Scattered to numerous thunderstorms could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours this afternoon.
Flooding: Excessive rainfall from slow-moving thunderstorms could lead to localized flooding, particularly in urbanized and poorly-draining areas of South Florida.
Rip Currents: A moderate risk of rip currents will develop along the Atlantic beaches of South Florida today.
. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN… Saturday through Thursday.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible each day into early next week. The strongest storms could contain heavy downpours and gusty winds.
Heat indices will remain in the triple digits each afternoon except for Saturday.
An elevated rip current risk could linger through the weekend along the Atlantic beaches of South Florida.
