Wellington Man Arrested, Allegedly Sent Obscene Messages To Children

WELLINGTON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Friday is warning South Florida about Roman Gomez, a Wellington man who they say was attempting to lure children and teens online. Gomez is in police custody as of 8 a.m.

According to information provided by PBSO to BocaNewsNow.com, Gomez was arrested on Thursday by detectives and charged with three crimes: “obscene communication — use computer to seduce, solicit, or lure child,” “obscene material distribution — transmit information that is harmful to minors,” and “obscene communication — travel to meet after use of a computer to lure a child.” Gomez, 59, lives in the 4000 block of Bluff Harbor Way in Wellington.

From PBSO: “On August 20, 2024, detectives received information that Roman Gomez sent inappropriate text messages to a minor female. After further investigation detectives found probable cause to arrest Roman Gomez, DOB: 10/7/64. On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Gomez was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on the charges listed below.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims.  Anyone with information regarding the suspicious behavior of Roman Gomez is urged to contact Detective Johanna Lopez at 561-688-4060 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.”
