UPDATE: 11:53 a.m. — Here’s the final update from Boca Raton PD who we thank for the quick information: “There was a domestic disturbance in the lobby of the hotel that led to a physical altercation outside. As officers arrived, the male, believed to armed, fled on foot back into his hotel room. The male exited the room and was taken into custody. As a result of the investigation, the male was arrested and charged with Simple Battery and Aggravated Assault. A female that was associated with the couple was also arrested on scene for an outstanding warrant.”
UPDATE: 10:53 a.m. — Boca PD tells BocaNewsNow.com that there is no threat to the public. We’re not sure, yet, why an alert was issued but we expect to learn more later today. Police are now dealing with the subjects involved.
UPDATE 10:30 a.m. — The initial information from Boca Raton PD is that this is some sort of a “disturbance” at the Residence Inn in the area. We have asked if the public list at risk. We have not received a response. We do appreciate that a “disturbance” in a hotel is not normally something that requires people to stay away from a specific area. We’ll update just as soon as we know more. The Residence Inn is at 525 NW 77th Street.
UPDATE: 9:55 a.m. — Our news alert email blast inadvertently switched Congress and I-95. The scene is WEST of I-95 and EAST of Congress. Our apologies.
