BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — As of just before 5 p.m. on Sunday: all Palm Beach County public and private schools are OPEN on Monday. While many school districts on Florida’s west coast have already announced closures, there is no indication as of Sunday afternoon that schools in our region have any reason to close as the week gets underway.

We have received no closure information from regional government service centers or businesses. While closures or schedule changes are not unexpected later in the week, Monday is expected to be a normal day across Palm Beach County. Trash pickup schedules have not been changed as of Sunday afternoon. If your trash is normally collected on Monday, expect your trash to be collected as scheduled.

Area malls and shopping centers have not announced changes in operating hours as of Sunday afternoon. Retailers like Home Depot and Lowe’s — which tend to be exceptionally busy as a storm approaches — are also keeping normal hours for now. Check their websites for updates.

Gas stations across the area are reporting regular operations as of Sunday afternoon and a spot check is not revealing long lines at this point. There is no need to “panic buy” gas at this stage of the storm’s development. Forecasters still don’t know where it’s going to go or how strong it will be. Preparation is good. Panic is not.
