PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County woman is dead, and police are seeking tips to locate the driver who fled the scene. Police in West Palm Beach transmitted this statement to BocaNewsNow.com on Monday:
“A 47-year-old woman died Wednesday from injuries she suffered in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month. At 7:48 p.m. October 5, a 911 caller reported seeing a woman run over by an SUV in the 2000 block of Okeechobee Boulevard. The caller said the SUV never stopped, and took off. The victim, Rachal Michelle Santamaria, 47, at-large, was crossing the westbound lanes, from south to north, when she was hit. She suffered critical injuries, and West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics took her to St. Mary’s Trauma Center.
Just after 5:30 p.m. October 23, Santamaria died in the hospital’s Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Traffic Homicide Unit detectives have identified a potential suspect vehicle through the investigation and evidence recovered.
