BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The lights are lit, the presents are being wrapped, the Menorahs are being de-boxed, and the rude among us are bringing their dogs into places where they do not belong. Welcome to the early holiday season edition of Boca Rudeton.

We start with the woman above. Yes, that woman. The woman in the winter vest with the winter sweater, the Lulu Lemon-like leggings, and — oddly — no socks despite the frigid air which she seems to be intent on battling with her winter weather wear. She’s also the woman holding the dog in Joseph’s Italian Market in the Boca Raton Town Center Mall. Looks like she has a stroller for fluffy-wuffie-the-doggie-woggie that she just can’t leave at home. We wonder, as our tipster wonders, why she has a dog in Joseph’s. Surely she knows it’s illegal. Surely she sees the signs telling her that no pets are allowed. Surely, like so many others, she realizes that if fluffy-wuffie was a real service dog, it wouldn’t be confined to a stroller with a warm blanket.

We move next to the Publix on Military Trail in Boca Raton. It’s there that our tipster asks why the woman in pink has a dog in a designer dog carrier that she has placed on her cart. We remind our readers that it’s not just illegal to bring a dog into a supermarket if it’s not a legitimately trained service animal providing a service (aka not one in a designer cage), but Publix has huge signs telling people to leave their frickin’ pets at home. (We added the word frickin’ but the signs are as clear as they can be). We don’t know why this woman is so rude, but perhaps Santa will bring her some common sense this year.

And we wrap this edition with the Ichabod Crane photo we received of a shopper in Fresh Market in Boca Raton. That’s where the apparent hound dog was brought for a little food shopping. The photo has no head, so we can’t see who the offender is — but we do know that maybe that’s not all that’s missing when it comes to this person. Intelligence would have led this shopper to leave his dog at home.

So who is our winner? It’s not even close. It’s our shopper in Joseph’s Italian Market in Boca Raton. We don’t know why Joseph’s is having such a difficult time enforcing its own rules. This clearly isn’t a service dog, and the woman clearly is milking the system by bringing her pet into a food market — something that’s not allowed. You know what’s also not allowed in Florida? Lying about your animal — claiming it’s a service animal when it is not. We hope someone calls the department of health on both Joseph’s and this woman. For now, we’re just calling her our Boca Rudeton® winner of the week. What does she get? Coal in her ankle-high stocking. If you know who she is, let us know. We’ll give you something far more valuable: a BocaNewsNow.com tee shirt! (Seriously! Use the form in our menu, above!)
We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. It is 100% the responsibility of Publix etc to enforce rules and regulations…its like if they were not traffic police everyone would just speed…such is human behavior …
They don’t wanna.
A few years ago, I and a couple of other guys surrounded a shoplifter in the entryway. The Publix manager said to let him go.
They’re a grocery chain, not a law enforcement entity.
These markets need to receive fines for allowing these morons in their stores. Flood the health department with complaints. I don’t shop at Josephs and especially Doris’s market in Boca that allow these morons to place their mutts in shopping carts.
Again with the small dogs that look like rats. Aren’t these people embarrassed?
I’m wondering why you don’t report this to the health department.
I mean you have the photos and perhaps you could perform the public service.
Just asking.
That is an excellent idea. I hope they will follow through with this.
If the law is not going to be enforced than change it. People bringing their dogs into food store are inconsiderate. Kt is not fault to those dog owners who do obey the law
What’s the penalty for bringing a dog in to a food store?
Thee are the arrogant people who think they are above the law.
Told you once before but worth repeating : letter to management of Cheesecake Factory and one of the food markets both responded that OUR EMPLOYEES ARE TOLD NOT TO CONFRONT OR QUESTION CUSTOMERS,
So maybe a few will get embarrassed hbut doubt it.
It might just take reports to health departments or feature stories in major newspaper. You are giving a good start
These self centered/entitle people with their dogs in tow make me sick. There is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said.
I have stopped going to a few stores that don’t enforce the “no dog, unless true ‘working dog” is enforced.
If your are so mentally uncomfortable shopping without your 3 #lb dog, get your groceries delivered.
I have to bring my dog where ever I go for if I would try to leave him he would only bark and bark and bark. That’s not fair to my condo neighbors. I could go without my dog, but my neighbors would have to hear him, and that’s not fair to them. It’s so interesting to me that even though you don’t know why people have their dogs with them they judge others, that I don’t get.
Linda, that’s not an excuse. That’s a problem.
Here’s a new concept….Dog Training! Also can’t help but wonder if the reason you don’t leave your dog at home is because you don’t want to be fined (or worse) by your condo mgmt……as opposed to your claim of fairness to neighbors. I do look forward to seeing your pic in the next episode of public shaming. Smile for the cameras. 🙂
So it’s not fair to your neighbors, but it’s fair to shoppers in a supermarket where it is illegal? Not the publics problem.
You don’t have to bring your dog. There are barking collars, training, and other means to solve this issue. If I felt I had to bring my dogs, I would not go shopping until another time. You’re worried about people in the condo but what about all the other people in the store? Maybe they have allergies. Maybe the dog will still bark. I understand your problem as a matter of fact, my daughter has the same issue. When people get dogs, they need to be responsible, even if you consider them your fur babies.
Sounds like a YOU problem. Get rid of the dog if it cannot be left alone ever.
Because it is illegal. But I get it, you are special because your dog barks smh! Get a bark collar.
It is quite interesting how many people in Boca are so “unwell” that they must have a pet with them at all times. I grew up in Boca and have never seen such an explosion of people who need the constant support of an animal
I’ve been saying the same thing. Scary to think how many emotionally unstable people live here that they can’t go or do anything without their dog. I call Town Center Mall a dog park. Insane how many dogs are in the mall.
Fine the stores, fine the offenders. It is not fair or safe for other shoppers. These people are demented and starving for attention.
so true!
You should get an award for creative writing or your own comedy special- I love the puns! I think your public shaming is helping – I haven’t seen as many dogs at the Publix where I shop. But at Town Center they still flourish – I wish I snapped a photo of the young woman walking her Pomeranian dressed in a tutu!
Well said by all the comments. This should be sent to health dept and the owners of dogs should be fined. Why do we suffer when narcissistic folks don’t care about others. Indication of society after Covid- selfishness!
Someone brought two dogs into Cracker Barrel and were seated next to my family. They allowed one dog on the table! Gross! I complained and the manager went over to talk to the people, they claimed the animals were service animals (clearly not – no vests, and more importantly totally untrained and acting out) and that was the end. The manager told me they’re not allowed to ask for proof of service animal status, so if the owner claims they are that’s the most they can do. Feel bad for the next family who ate at that table after the dog’s paws and butt had touched it. And to be clear, I’m a dog lover! I bring my goldendoodle to all the stores where he is ALLOWED including Lowe’s, Michael’s, PetCo, Pet Supermarket, and restaurants with dog-friendly patios like Lazy Dog. But never to a grocery store or indoor restaurant.
It’s definitely the fault of businesses that don’t enforce the no pet policy. Joseph’s actually advertising “Pet Friendly “.
Don’t California my Florida. What a bunch of OCD micromanagers on here. Those women with their dogs are ADORABLE. And a dog in a carrying case bothering nobody? Move to California if you want to publicly shame people.
Ridiculous comment Brad and think you know that. Leave your dogs at home and not in supermarkets & restaurants, period. It’s an easy concept really for folks who have a working brain upstairs. Why do folks like yourself & these other folks feel so entitled on this subject? Please explain where this is coming from and why not following certain laws is o k for you guys!
Don’t California my Florida, but I’ll bet you most of these women are from New York or New Jersey.
They are only following the examples being set by today’s leadership which has obviously been deemed acceptable by the majority. Some people are just “above the law” and have convinced themselves it doesn’t apply to them.
If you are so petrified that you cant leave your home and shop without bringing your dog my advice is get it delivered. I have 3 dogs and love animals but there is no place for them where the public buys or consumes food.
Bravo to the Author. Some of the comments above are as ridiculous as the photos. I’ve owned all pedigree, toy breeds and am an absolute animal lover. However, aside from pet related stores, I would not take them into a food or even shopping venue as it is just NOT appropriate. IMO, these women look just weird and need the kind of help you can’t get in a grocery store.
Love this article! <3
It is quite interesting how many people in Boca are so “unwell” that they must have a pet with them at all times. I grew up in Boca and have never seen such an explosion of people who need the constant support of an animal at all times. Coming from an owner of 3 dogs !
Jeepers. Lots of anger here. Lots of more important things to worry about. (Like WW3). Most little dogs don’t bother me. I keep my dogs at home. But I used to bring my elderly t cup doggie with me inside a purse. For several years after he got old. He slept. No one ever noticed him. So I am on the fence. I would not bring my 12 ish pound dogs in a store. But a 4 or 5 pounder, zipped in, in a purse, without their head sticking out. I am OK with that. I also snuck him into restaurants while traveling. And paid for him to fly with me.
I think what other people do is none of your business, and it’s disgusting to take a picture of somebody in public that you know nothing about and try and shame them . I had a family member who had a Chihuahua service animal and it’s nobody business why she had it but for sure when she had an episode the dog 100% protected her and kept her safe . Snitches get stitches remember that. Shame on those involved posting pictures of people you really don’t know entire story about .
