BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A person was killed around 6:20 this morning on U.S. 441/State Road 7 near Loxahatchee Road. That’s just south of the Palm Beach County line into Broward County. It is yards from what is considered West Boca Raton.

The Coconut Creek Police Department tells BocaNewsNow.com that the northbound lanes of U.S. 441/SR7 are closed. Traffic homicide investigations traditionally span several hours — expect massive delays in the area throughout the morning.

Police say that a pedestrian was struck at 6:18 a.m. It is unclear what type of vehicle was involved. Identifying information regarding the pedestrian has not been released. It is believed the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the incident is northbound, expect significant southbound delays as well. Your best bet: move east to Lyons Road, or further east to Jog/Powerline. The Florida Turnpike may also be an option depending on your travel plans. We’ll update this post as soon as we receive more information. We thank the Coconut Creek Police Department for sharing information so quickly.
