BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An association in Century Village Boca Raton is preparing to foreclose on a resident who allegedly owes the community thousands of dollars. Pearl Fuchs, according to a court filing, owes nearly $6,000 and has not paid despite years of warnings. The Mansfield At Century Village Condominium Association is now moving forward with litigation.
The problems date back to 2021 where the community gave Fuchs notice of a balance due that started to accrue. While payments of $6,794.60 have been made over the past few years, there is a balance now of $5,99.42. The community has hired attorney Daniel Wasserstein to collect the funds or potentially initiate a lien of foreclosure on her property.
The unit, according to public records, is valued at $34,000. It sold back in March of 2011 for $10,000 — a great deal if you keep up with the community fees and other assessments. It’s not a great deal if the community takes the property away because you’re not paying what you need to be paying.
Florida has very strict rules when it comes to paying fees and assessments. Despite many residents believing the rules changed dramatically in the state, they mostly did not. If you agree to pay community fees when you purchase a home or condo, you are required to pay those fees. Your HOA has the power to prevent you from using amenities in the community if you default, and can ultimately attempt to take your property.
