PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It’s so chilly in Palm Beach County that officials are opening “cold weather shelters” for those without heat. We note these are not in South Palm Beach County. If you are having issues staying warm in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, or other places in the area, please look up the non-emergency number for your local police department which may be able to offer guidance.
Here’s what Palm Beach County issued Friday afternoon: The National Weather Service predicts coolest air of the season so far expected in Palm Beach County tonight, January 24th and early into the morning of Saturday, January 25th. Based on this information and the saturated ground conditions, in order to protect those seeking refuge from the cold during the overnight period, the Palm Beach County Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management (DEM) has activated the Cold Weather Shelter Plan for both Western and Eastern Palm Beach County.
The following cold weather emergency shelters will be open beginning at 7 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2025 and will close at 9 A.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2025:
Western Palm Beach County
Belle Glade Transitional Shelter and Lake Village at the Glades
