BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two people were arrested on felony charges while more than 100 traffic citations were issued during a weekend seatbelt enforcement operation in Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office provided this breakdown to BocaNewsNow.com:
>>>The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office conducted a countywide Occupant Protection Enforcement Operation on January 25, 2025. The purpose of this operation is to conduct high-visibility, zero-tolerance enforcement of all Florida State Statutes regarding seat belt usage and child safety restraints. Another part of this campaign is to educate the public on the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt or securing a child in a properly installed car seat and safety belt.
The locations of the enforcement were major roadways in Palm Beach County. The results of the operation are as follows:98 Traffic Stops; 2 Felony Arrests; 13 Criminal Citations; 115 Traffic Citations (including 67 seatbelt citations); 45 Traffic Warnings (including 14 seatbelt warnings)<<<
The advisory did not include how many people may receive points on their licenses as a result of a seatbelt violation, but as a public service, we remind you that failure to wear a seatbelt in Florida can result in three points on your license, depending on how it is adjudicated.

I’ve gotten my fair share of seat belt tickets in both Palm Beach and Orange Counties, and have NEVER gotten points along with the ticket. Not sure where that info is coming from, but seat belt tickets by themselves do not come with points.
Forget about the seatbelt law right now, but they really need to go after the cars that rumble through weaving in and out of road lanes at 80 miles an hour in high volume traffic . Cops need to focus on the real criminals of the road and stop going after easy pickings.
