BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major construction project that was omitted from the weekly list provided to BocaNewsNow.com by FDOT and Palm Beach County officials is causing quite a problem in West Boca Raton. And it’s likely to continue through the summer. The situation for — for now — is in the area of Palmetto Park Road, just west of U.S. 441/SR7. It seems as if the work will eventually be moving east.
Here’s the official announcement from Palm Beach County provided to us earlier Monday. We thank the multiple readers who reached out to ask us why traffic was backed up. The bad news: it’s going to be the norm for a while:
OFFICIAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES: “PBC Project Nos. 2020107 and 2020108. Palmetto Park and SR 7 and SW 18th and SR 7. Scope of the work is: Relocation and reconfiguration of traffic separator & grass median for extension of left turn lane on to SR-7. Incudes milling and resurfacing. Contractor is Florida Blacktop Original Contract Amount: $587,662.84 Original Schedule Timeline is for 180 days.”
We’d like to provide an alternate route, but there really is none. Unless you want to drive up to Glades Road, go all the way west, loop around by West Boca High, keep driving, and end up back on Palmetto Park Road. Good luck from your friends at BocaNewsNow.com.

That intersection was already bad pre-construction traveling on palmetto in the morning because the traffic light for going straight (crossing SR-7) turns green for a ridiculously short time. Now it is a nightmare. The least they can do is double the green light time for crossing SR-7. Who can I contact to complain and request a green light timing change?
