BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There’s a new red light camera in South Palm Beach County, and it’s getting ready to photograph your license if you run through the intersection when you’re not supposed to. The camera is part of a system that will send you a ticket. The Boynton Beach Police Department issued this head’s up to BocaNewsNow.com:

“The Boynton Beach Police Department has installed new red light cameras at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Miner Road. The cameras will monitor northbound and southbound traffic. A warning period is currently in effect until March 12, 2025. Beginning March 13, 2025, red light violations will result in a fine of $158.

If the violation is not paid within 60 days, the violation will be converted into a Uniform Traffic Citation with a fine of $264. Red light camera violations are considered civil violations and will not impact your driving record or add points to your license. BBPD encourages drivers to drive safely and always stop on red.”

While controversial, red light cameras are legal in Florida — and often generate a significant amount of revenue for both the municipality and the private company that manages many of them. We note, however, that fighting them in court can lead to success. (Are you a lawyer who wants to connect with people receiving these tickets?
