
BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach man was apparently shot to death during a dispute in a home in Lighthouse Point. The Broward Sheriff’s Office says Bernabe Rodriguez was killed Wednesday evening during the incident. Here is the official statement from BSO to BocaNewsNow.com:
>>Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting in Lighthouse Point. At approximately 5:13 p.m., officers with the Lighthouse Point Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call, where shots were fired, near the 2600 block of Northeast 49th Street in Lighthouse Point. On scene, officers located an adult male, identified as Bernabe Rodriquez, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue also responded and transported Rodriquez to Broward Health North for treatment. He was later pronounced deceased. At the request of the Lighthouse Point Police Department, detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
According to investigators, the shooter remained on scene, was detained for questioning, and later released. Detectives say upon completion of their investigation, the case will be presented to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for review. According to the Lighthouse Point Police Department, they have not responded to any calls for service at the location involving the individual shot and the alleged shooter.<<
BSO has not released the name of the alleged shooter and no charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
