DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Delray Beach man who spent ten hours in a standoff with police is now in custody. Omar Reynolds of 2216 Bloods Grove Circle came out of his apartment around 9 p.m. following the standoff that started around 11 a.m. He is officially charged with “threat to bomb – threaten discharge destructive device.”
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that Reynolds was the subject of an eviction which led police to his apartment Wednesday morning. But when deputies arrived to serve the eviction notice, Reynolds allegedly refused to leave. He then threatened to blow up his apartment — and possibly the apartment complex. That’s when SWAT was called to the scene.
After evacuating nearby units, police engaged in hours of negotiations. Snipers were seen on area roofs as streets in the complex were blocked. Heavily armed SWAT team members were seen in tactical locations near the unit occupied by Omar Reynolds. Witnesses say some sort of gas may be discharged into the unit before Reynolds ultimately surrendered.

Court records show that Reynolds marriage ended in late August. While his ex-wife apparently vacated the apartment they shared, he did not. Reynolds was served with a notice of non-renewal of the apartment lease back in October and failed to vacate the unit on January 18th. After court action which took several weeks, a judge approved eviction and authorized the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to execute the order.
