BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Days after Boynton Beach resident Cody Bell was arrested for fleeing police at speeds topping 109 miles per hour on I-95 in South Palm Beach County, the Florida Highway Patrol has confiscated that vehicle involved. FHP says Cody Bell is not entitled to his Mercedes under the State of Florida’s Contraband Forfeiture Act.
Bell, arrested last week, was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on nearly $60,000 bond. Neither he nor his attorneys have contested the seizure of his 2017 Mercedes C300. Not only charged with fleeing at excessive speeds, Bell allegedly had illegal drugs with him at the time of his arrest. Here’s what we reported on March 15th:
>>Records indicate that Bell was stopped in the area of Lantana Road and I95. He was heading westbound at the time of the incident. Language from the tickets, as written by an FHP Trooper, explains more of what is alleged: “Flee/elude officer/disregard safety of others. Fled lights and sirens active. Recklessly ran multiple red lights. 100MPH+ on a city road. Willful and wanton 109 in a 65 mph zone. Improper lane changes. Following too closely.” One ticket also states that Bell was in physical possession of Oxycodone. He remains held without bond early Saturday morning. Bell was apparently driving a 2017 white Mercedes sedan at the time of the incident.<<
A judge on March 20th found probable cause supporting the forfeiture of Bell’s car. He is prohibited from driving while the multiple felony cases filed as a result of the high speed chase work their way through the court system. While Bell’s official address at the time of his arrest was listed as West Boynton Beach, the seizure notification has Bell’s home address as Pacifica Street in Wellington.
