Boynton Beach Police issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com on Wednesday:
>> The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2023, near Ocean Parkway in Boynton Beach. Upon arrival, BBPD Officers encountered three women, who reported they had just been robbed at gunpoint with one of the suspects striking and threatening the victims with a firearm while stealing their purses, phones, and car keys.
An extensive investigation by BBPD Detectives revealed that 18-year-old Ralph Metelus,19-year-old Jamar Kendricks, 23-year-old Zachary Johnson, and another male met the three victims at a club earlier in the night, before bringing them back to Kendricks residence. When the three victims attempted to leave, Metelus went inside the residence and returned wearing a black mask and carrying a black pistol, at which point the robbery occurred. Kendricks fled on foot with both Metelus and Johnson fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed in a rented white Mercedes-Benz, later recovered in North Lauderdale. The fourth male left shortly after the incident began and was not involved in the crime.
Detectives obtained surveillance footage, conducted photo lineups, and executed multiple search warrants throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties. The investigation also uncovered that the suspect’s vehicle had been rented using fraudulent identification, and items inside the vehicle were linked to the suspects.
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Kendricks was arrested in December 2023 and later admitted during questioning that he knew some of the individuals involved, despite initially denying direct involvement. He was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, aggravated battery, and interference with a 911 call.
In February 2024, warrants were issued for Johnson and Metelus, both of whom were also identified by the victims. All three defendants have since pleaded guilty. Sentencing hearings for Johnson and Metelus are pending.<<
