Worker Vapes In Cars At Delray Hyundai Genesis, Dealership Claims To Know Nothing About Appointments…

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Consumer Alert has been issued for Delray Hyundai and Delray Genesis at 655 NE 6th Avenue in Delray Beach by BocaNewsNow.com. The dealership, believed to be one of the smallest physically in the Hyundai and Genesis network, seems to have some of the biggest problems. We encourage Hyundai and Genesis customers to find other dealerships in the area.
Among the issues at Delray Hyundai and Delray Genesis: the person who is responsible for checking-in vehicles and then driving them to the separate service building was documented to be vaping while doing his job. While some dealerships clean and detail vehicles before returning them to owners after a service appointment, Delray Hyundai and Genesis is going in the opposite direction — providing that “Vape Pipe Smell” at no additional charge.

Not only is it gross, but Delray Hyundai/Delray Genesis seems to be engaged in the practice of devaluing vehicles. One of the questions asked by trade-in sites: “has your car ever been smoked or vaped in?” If your car was taken to Delray Hyundai and Genesis, the answer is possibly “yes.” We wonder if that could lead to litigation — should a customer sue to recover the lost value of a vehicle smoked in by a Delray Hyundai/Genesis employee.
Another issue: Delray Hyundai Genesis claims it knows nothing about appointments made on its website. BocaNewsNow.com was shocked Thursday to be told by Service Manager Matthew Martinez that even though a customer’s appointment was confirmed on its website for a tire replacement, the tire wasn’t there and the appointment wasn’t in the system because “the website is run by Genesis and if they don’t tell us we don’t know.”
Just to make it as clear as possible: Delray Hyundai/Genesis has a website. On that website is an appointment scheduler. That appointment scheduler sends appointment confirmations. Delray Hyundai/Genesis claims it knows nothing about those appointments, even though customers arrive at the dealership with a confirmation in hand.
And while some dealerships and service centers, like BMW of Delray Beach, Mercedes of Delray Beach, JM Lexus, and Phil Smith Kia have employees who go out of their way to help, to expedite, and to make customers comfortable, Delray Hyundai/Genesis has a unique ability to hire service advisors who do the opposite. They stand around, they see customers and they ignore customers. Not just for two minutes. Not just for ten minutes. But for 15 minutes or longer. A unique skill.
General Manager Manny Vallejo, who initially refused to take a call from BocaNewsNow.com, ultimately acknowledged that his dealership has an issue with the Hyundai/Genesis computer system but wouldn’t specify what he is doing to solve the problem. Delray Hyundai and Genesis is owned by ABC J/S Imports which, with Vallejo, was the subject of a recently withdrawn employee discrimination case. It is facing a premises liability lawsuit filed by a customer who allegedly fell on poorly maintained property at the dealership, sustaining serious injuries. Our guidance: do not do business with Delray Hyundai/Genesis.

There’s a reason their Acura dealership was taken away. Just awful service experiences.
Purchased my vehicle from Delray Genesis in 2018. Used to be a good place. Ever since the dealership was sold the service there is horrible.
I walked in there recently to get information on a GV80 which seemed nice. I walked out minutes later. The place was disgusting and the employees were rude. Genesis wants to compete with BMW and Mercedes. It doesn’t. Their dealerships and service centers all follow guidelines. This place looked horrible and the service center looks liked a someone brought in a trailer and took off the wheels. No way am I spending time there.
Genesis has to separate their dealership and make it elite. I went to the Deerfield Hyundai Genesis dealership last year when they advertised a sale on Genesis. I was treated as if I was buying a cheap auto. I couldn’t wait to escape. I ended up buying a BMW and the Delray dealer has been first class.
All above comments r true. I’ve been buying cars for overb60 yrs in several states. This dealership is absolute worst. My experience there was one off extremely bad. and will never be repeated . Genesis would be smart to take genesis away from them. Gives the brand a black eye .
Wouldn’t buy a lug nut if my tire was falling off or do anything at any of the Delray dealerships. When covid hit the Delray dealerships were selling their cars for thousands above MSRP and laughed at you when you questioned it saying try to find it. Rick Case Hyundai in Plantation had inventory and you could still make deals with them, and we purchased two new cars. One for me and one for our son on the same visit.
Delray Hyundai/ Genesis is by far the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. My experience there has been terrible. The service manager who I dealt with, lies and lies. I always and still do get much better service, prices and great customer service at King Hyundai/Genesis. The new owners are as bad as the old. Don’t go near this place. It sucks.
It has always been bad there. They sold me a lemon and lied about having fixed the issue. Finally per order of the bbb an outside mechanic was called in. Problem resolved. They gave me my money back, it took 10 months and several close call near death situations before resolve!
Pathetic
Go to Coconut Creek Hyundai. Great sales & service.
What are they laundering? Coke money? Trafficking people? Not selling cars.
I have never dealt with such incompetence and lack of customer service. Liars and thieves my car was in worse shape after they were supposed to do a simple fix. Stay as far away as you can.
I had a similar experience there 2/12 years ago. I bought a GV 70. When I came in for service they couldn’t find the service representative for 20 minutes. When they eventually found him the part that I needed had not been ordered. I called the so- called customer service representative 4 days in a row. She never responded. I now go to Kimg Genesis in Deerfield and have great service.
We use to be customers of Delray Hyundai with a purchase in 2017. I was having some trouble establishing a paint repair job in 2021/2022. I expressed my disappointment to the manager. His response was, then go
…”then F ‘en go someplace else!” We do go someplace else, got the paint job done, and purchased a 2023 Santa Fe at King Hyundai. We are satisfied customers of King.
I am shocked. I remember when my husband worked there which was about 15 years ago! The sales Mgr was great and the salesmen were outstanding! Tom Gordon Travis Fred Permutter A great agency at one time!!!
Similar experiences to the above at Delray Hyundai! I purchased my ionic 5 there in 2023 and experienced a horrible sales experience. Also, some months later I brought the car back for a recall situation and the service department was just as bad, if not worse than the sales department. I have since been using other dealerships, which are far better experiences! I will never use Hyundai of Delray again!
Spent 4 hours waiting for my car for my first oil change. I listened to incoming calls at the service desk and they were being bombarded by unhappy customers. The waiting room was mostly filled with Hyundai customers there for recalls. My appointment took months to schedule due to these recalls. It seems like their service bay space is too small — they can’t service the cars they sell. Don’t even try for a loaner. I now go to King Genesis. Genesis service advisor Lacey is fantastic. I’ve been there once without an appointment for turbo charger issue and got a loaner. It’s like night and day between the service departments. Delray has real problems.
We purchased 2 vehicles there and it was a nightmare. The under valued our trade in and then refused to give us the promotion claiming it was just advertisement to get customers in. Scam artist.
The one thing I disagree with is that prior to the change in ownership, this dealership was also horrible. They tried a bait and switch on a 22 GV 70 that I purchased. That failed. Finally I did get the GV 70 I wanted from them. I should have walked. Service was horrible, problems with appointments, problems with communication, problems, problems, problems. I switched service to King Genesis, excellent and never looked back. Genesis should dump them.
I guess all of those dealerships are just as bad. Went to Grieco Chevrolet for warranty work, same thing. After 3 tries and keeping my car over the weekend it was still broke. Finally got it resolved in Lou Bachrodt Pompano. Terrible.
Delray Kia is just as bad, I’m sure its the same owners.
Both Delray Kia and Delray Hyundia are bad places to buy anything or have anything serviced.
Hopefully you won’t be a victim.
I purchased my Palisade from there and although my sales experience was a good one, the service department is just the worst. My first oil change I chose to go to Jiffy Lube rather than get the free one from them as scheduling , service times and the people just freeking suck. When my lease is up I defiantly will not be going back to this dealership.
I had a leased Sonata and purchased it at the end of the lease. Delray Hyundai was the worst. I have had Hyundais for years and never experienced such underhanded awful people. They are a disgrace to the product
What a shame. I bought a new ‘06 Santa Fe there and the service was wonderful. When I was looking to replace it after a wonderful run (16 years) I went back there. I figured they weee having a bad day. I guess not. I ended up walking out.
Dear Delray Hyundai: A happy customer will tell one person. An unhappy customer will tell ten people or sometimes 1,000’s. Your salesman who leased me a Disney ioniq 5 was very nice and got me a better deal than any other dealership. I have had problems with your service dept and parts dept though. I wont go into details here but I recommend that you train and screen your employees better. It’s better to have a happy customer telling one person than an unhappy customer telling 1,000’s.
The vaping in cars is horrific. But my Sales girl Sarah was amazing!! No complaints. Even helps me get into service faster. I have bought two cars from her. If you do end up at Delray Hyundai, ask for her and she will be your guide through the service situation.
My 2016 Sonata was one with a defective, oil-burning engine. Many people apparently do not know this, but your new vehicle’s warranty is with the manufacturer, not the selling dealer. ALL authorized dealers are obligated to honor the warranty. They do get paid for the work by the manufacturer.
Long story short, it took 6 months to get my vehicle repaired by Delray Hyundai under the warranty. I had a copy of the Hyundai Service Bulletin concerning this issue, so I knew what had to be done.
Should I purchase another Hyundai, it won’t be through Delray Hyundai.
Let me predicate this by saying I am a 75-year old man who has been leasing cars for decades. I first leased a new 1999 G70 from Delray Genesis upon moving from New York. For the next 3 years my experiences with Delray Genesis were great and, in 2022, I returned and leased my next G70. However the dealership had been purchased by new owners and thereafter my experience with Delray Genesis went quickly downhill. One repair, when an update to the digital display system actually blew out the display, took 6 months and was finally repaired only after Genesis Corporate got involved and forced them to fully replace the digital system. Other less serious service calls were problematic. The final straw was in late 2024, when shopping to lease what would have been my 3rd Genesis became so fraught with problems (including, but by no means limited to, a claim that I was required to purchase an aftermarket “etch” protection option I did not want) that Genesis Corporate recommended I go to another, more distant, dealership. Although I would really have liked to lease another Genesis I decided that I had experienced enough problems and, not wanting to travel away from my home area for any future service, decided to lease a BMW i5 in Delray instead.
It’s not just the recent ownership either. I could have helped you write a similar story 2 decades ago. Back when getting car quotes over the internet was relatively new I tried to buy a new Hyundia Sonata. I was given a really good “out the door” price via email but when I showed up all of these extra fees magically started getting added to it by the salesman. When I produced the printed copy of the quote I received and asked what else could “Out the door” possibly mean he hemmed and hawed and agreed to get the sales manager. The sales manager told me it was an honest mistake by the person that sent the quote, that this has never happened before, and that I was crazy to expect to pay that for the car. But it gets better! They would not budge on ANYTHING to accommodate for the fact that they made this ‘honest’ $2000 mistake. They couldn’t even take a grand off the price or add a measly $500 to the trade in value.
I eventually managed to have an email exchange with the owner. The guy freely acknowledged it was their mistake but asked me how could I honestly expect him to just take a $2000 loss on the vehicle? Anyways that guy sure was proud to mention that he was retired USMC but I guess he didn’t learn a thing about honor during his service. Anyone that has ever been associated with ownership or management at this place is a complete piece of human trash.
We went and looked at a car there. No one even looked at us when we walked in. We waited about 15 minutes. The person who took us for a test drive was horrible. He actually scared me. I told my husband I am not buying a car from that. Let’s go back to where we were before, and I went up to Napleton in Npb
I would like to file a formal complaint against Delray Hyundai, a dealership located in Delray Beach, and the financial institution affiliated with Hyundai. I was subjected to a completely dishonest process in which I was not only mocked, but also misled through manipulative and unethical practices that seriously affected my finances and peace of mind.
Throughout the entire process, I was made to feel ignorant. They took every opportunity to misinform me and, with the collaboration of Hyundai’s bank, carried out a transaction that was clearly unfair and intentionally harmful.
I have been trying to resolve the issue for over a year, without receiving a responsible or transparent solution. That is why I strongly advise others to seek more ethical and trustworthy alternatives.
My intention is to warn other consumers from falling into a similar situation. We all deserve to be treated with dignity, honesty, and professionalism.
Agree with this article. We tried to buy a car there last year and experienced blatant dishonesty. The management was awful and rude. Tried contacting corporate and got nowhere. We went to Miami and purchased a car with no issues. Unfortunately, we live close to this Delray location but we will never go there again. They should be ashamed.
