UPDATE at 5:35 p.m. — PBSO tells us the injuries are serious but not life threatening.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A critical crash on U.S. 441 northbound near Hanover Point Drive Friday morning closed all northbound lanes on the heavily used road for several hours. Traffic was moving again around 2 p.m. Hanover Point Drive borders Unincorporated Boynton Beach and Unincorporated Lake Worth.

While the accident remains under investigation, sources familiar with rescue response tell BocaNewsNow.com that it was a two car accident with a teen driver and a driver in his 80s. It’s unclear who did what or what caused the crash. Both people were injured and transported to Delray Medical Center — the area’s trauma center. While the young woman’s injuries were not considered life threatening, the man’s injuries are considered serious.

The crash was first reported around 11 a.m. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigators remained on the scene — with all northbound lanes blocked — as of 1:30 p.m. It was not immediately clear if the crash rose to the level of a “traffic homicide investigation,” a level of investigation that doesn’t necessarily mean death ocurred but could be possible. We are awaiting an official response from PBSO.

There is a significant amount of construction on U.S. 441 in the area of the crash. It was unclear if construction equipment or frequent speed changes on the road — near the scene — had anything to do with the wreck. Check back for updates.

  1. I have called PB County Sheriff’s office informing them of the constant speeding on 441. Most of the accidents on 441 are very serious. I rarely have seen the sheriff’s office on traffic watch for speeders.

  2. I am truly alarmed by the number of car accidents occurring on 441, Glades Road, and the Turnpike. What’s even more concerning is the apparent lack of effort to reduce these incidents through increased police presence or traffic cameras to help slow down speeding vehicles.

Driving in Florida has become a frightening experience. There’s a noticeable lack of respect and kindness on the road. Speeding, aggressive lane changes, and reckless zig-zagging through traffic are far too common.

    We need to do better.

Every time you make a careless move behind the wheel, you’re not just risking your own life — you’re endangering everyone around you. A single reckless decision can cause irreversible harm.

Let’s bring more mindfulness, patience, and humanity back to our roads. Slowing down and showing consideration can save lives.
