UPDATE Saturday, June 14, 2025: Self-proclaimed “influencer” Hannah Sklar made her Instagram account “private” after our reporting. That’s unheard of for “influencers” who spend their lives trying to get attention and followers. We have published the “private” message, below.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A self-proclaimed social media influencer may have caused big problems for “The Boca Raton,” the quasi-resort once known as “The Boca Resort.” A woman who uses the online name of “Hannah Sklar” posted images of herself Friday with her dog in the pool at The Boca Raton. That’s a violation of Florida health codes, and the latest problem for “The Boca Raton” property.

Sklar posted images of herself with her dog to her Instagram Stories feed mid-day Friday. Eagle-eyed BocaNewsNow.com readers — concerned about the health risk the dog in the pool posed to hotel guests — reached out to BocaNewsNow.com. We checked with the Florida Deparmtent of Health which writes this:

Hannah Sklar, a self-proclaimed social media influencer, posted photos of herself violating Florida health code by putting her dog in the pool at “The Boca Raton.” (Courtesy: Instagram).

“The Department of Health considers any animal in a public pool a public health threat.” And if Hannah Sklar were to suggest that her animal is a service animal, the Department of Health says this: “Service animals as defined in Florida Statute 413.08(1)(d)are allowed onto the pool deck, but not into the pool. A service animal is not a pet. While service dogs are generally allowed to accompany their owners anywhere the public would normally be allowed to go, they may be excluded under certain conditions, such as a threat to the health and safety of others.”

It’s unclear why Hannah Sklar decided to post images of herself violating Florida statute, or whether The Boca Raton knew what it was doing when it apparently invited her to the property. The Boca Raton, as we reported days ago, is facing a major lawsuit from a woman who says she was critically injured on the property. It’s not the first time The Boca Raton has been the subject of controversy. Read our coverage here.

UPDATE: Here is Hannah Sklar’s “private” notification which was activated after our reporting. “Influencers” do not tend to hide their posts.

  1. Another wanna be celebrity. Her instagram account is set to private. Wonder if she did that before or after putting her dog in the pool and being called out on it.

  2. I blame this dog stupidity not only on this so called influencer but on the Boca Raton Resort for allowing this so called moron of an influencer to let her dog go in the pool which I am sure has to be shut down and drained who knows her dog may have pissed in the pool creating a major health hazard for the resort . I stayed at resort a month ago when a friend was in town it took over half hour just to get my car out of valet .

    1. It doesn’t have to urinate in the pool. A dog’s body will introduce about 50 people’s worth of contaminants, including parasites, e-coli, salmonella, etc. into the water. That’s in addition to the hair that will clog the filtration system. Its not cute, its dangerous to people and costly to the pool owners. People are usually required to rinse off before getting into a pool. But dog owners refuse to see the difference!

  3. I know, from my own experience that dogs are not allowed in the pools in Florida. I was visiting a hotel during my first visit in Florida. This dog came from somewhere, and he jumped into the pool. The manager came running, and he started yelling to get that dog out of the water. Someone got the dog out of there. Its a huge thing with pools. Everyone should know this.

  4. How is this surprising to anyone? US citizens have been shamed into silence when it comes to the pet industry. The push to declare them as human on par with actual babies. Even though children don’t shed fecal matter covered dander into people’s food and air, dog lovers claim that they’re no different and “aren’t bothering anyone”. So the silent minority says nothing as they claim ALL public parks, refuse to use leashes, and terrorize apartment building neighbors. Never mind that the last places that allergy sufferers and children were safe from them, libraries, schools, dentist offices, and hospitals are no longer a refuge. Meanwhile we get commercials PUSHING humans down and dogs up. They are “family” and no one disrespects their chosen family member, no matter how allergic or young.
