BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A few years after closing its locations in East Boca Raton and West Boca Raton, Outback Steakhouse is bringing its Australian-themed restaurant back to West Boca Raton. Instead of its failed location on U.S. 441, this time its building a new building at 8841 Glades Road. That’s the shopping center at Glades and Lyons, where Michael’s and TJ Maxx operate.

We asked Bloomin’ Brands — the company that owns the Outback brand — what’s changed. We wanted to know why the company wants to re-enter a market where it failed in two locations. The response was somewhat ambiguous.

“This location is in a primary retail area accessible to the Central and West Boca Raton communities,” said Spokesperson Elizabeth Daly.

The location is notably walkable from Lotus Edge, the new G.L. Homes community on Lyons near Glades Road. We note that most other G.L. Homes communities on Lyons Road do not have chain Australian-themed steakhouses a short walk away, so if you’re looking for a reason to buy a $2M home on a zero lot line, this could be it.

We asked Bloomin’ Brands when the restaurant would open. The company said it’s not prepared to answer, other than to say possibly by the end of the year. We note Bloomin Brands (NASDAQ: BLMN) closed Tuesday at $8.96, down from it’s 12-month high of $20.85. The company certainly has a steak in making this location work.

  1. If the first two failed, this one will fail as well. I never hear anyone say, “Lets go to Outback!”.
I wish them luck but Boca residents have previously shown that they are not intrested in Outback Steakhouses.

  2. Outback is one of my favorite restaurants because they always give you a good bang for your buck. There always clean and for my taste the food is always good and the service is very good.

  3. I’ve been a fan of Outback every since they started. I ate at the two Boca Outback Steak house in Boca. In the beginning everything was fine. Then like a switch was turned on everything went BAD. The quality of the food was still there however everything else was bad. It started with the service and then everything went bad. It seemed like in the beginning they had the “A” Team running the business and then they brought in the “B” Team. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and eventually they closed the doors. You will only go to an establishment a few times where you are treated poorly till you stop going. That’s what happened to me.

  4. Outback, years ago was great.
For the past few years, their prices increased while their portions noticeably decreased…at lest in their Deerfield Beach location.

  5. Whoever wrote the article already is looking down their nose at Outback. It’s obvious from their condescending tone. In a city full of high end steakhouses, Outback offers a solid alternative. It’s obvious from some of the many positive comments.
