
UPDATE 6:28 p.m. — PBSO just issued this statement to us: “The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Preliminary investigation indicates the aircraft clipped a palm tree at 3820 Lake Osborne Drive before striking a moving vehicle on Lake Osborne Drive. The plane ultimately came to rest within the park.
The pilot and one passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The vehicle that was struck contained one adult and four children; all occupants were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified and are responding to investigate.”
UPDATE 5:09 p.m. — Both people on the plane are being transported to area medical centers. Several people from the vehicle hit by the plane are also being taken to area medical centers.
UPDATE 5:05 p.m. — Radar tracking indicates the plane was an M-8 Eagle with registration N974FL. The FAA reports that it is owned by an aircraft trust with offices in Utah. No specific names are attached to the registration.
UPDATE: 5:01 p.m. — Tracking information obtained from FlightAware.com and FlightRadar24.com indicates the plane took off at 4:24 p.m. and crashed at 4:25 p.m. It made a hard left turn after clearing the airport (LNA), never gained altitude, and crashed around Crest Drive and High Ridge Road.
UPDATE: 4:57 p.m. — BocaNewsNow.com has learned there were five people in the car and two people on the plane.
UPDATE: 4:49 p.m. — Officials confirm the plane crashed off of airport property. It’s not immediately clear if the plane was approaching or departing Palm Beach County Park Airport (LNA). This is NOT PBI.
UPDATE: 4:47 p.m. — Multiple patients are being rushed to Saint Mary’s Medical Center.

The crash, in the area of Lake Osborne, is just yards from the Palm Beach County Airpark.
