Mark Sohaney Approved By City Council. Was CEO Of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman and Naval Station at Key West.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Details still need to be worked out, but the Boca Raton City Council on Tuesday approved the hiring of Mark Sohaney as the new City Manager. Sohaney will replace the retiring — and well-respected — George S. Brown.
Sohaney joins Boca Raton with a significant amount of public management experience, including his most recent position as CEO of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Sohaney previously oversaw The Naval Station at Key West, was Executive Assistant to the Director of Maritime Operations for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, and was director of contingency plan for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Sohaney is a graduate of the Naval War College and San Diego State University. Here’s what the City of Boca Raton announced just after 5 p.m. Tuesday:
”At the City Council Special Meeting on Tuesday, August 12, the City Council unanimously selected Mark Sohaney as Boca Raton’s next City Manager, following the planned retirement of City Manager George S. Brown. Next steps include negotiating an employment agreement, confirming Mr. Sohaney’s start date, and coordinating Mr. Brown’s availability to support a seamless leadership transition and ensure continuity of City operations.”
