Boca Raton’s Jamie Hower Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing Crash Scene. Drove Away With Airbag Deployed.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman who allegedly fled the scene of a crash that she caused in the 900 block of Palmetto Park Road told police that she fled because the other people involved were “mean.”
As we first reported earlier this week, Jamie Hower allegedly caused a crash around 10:30 p.m. on August 17th in the area of Palmetto Park Road and SW 9th Avenue. She fled the scene in her white Dodge Challenger which police noticed had “heavy passenger side damage” with a passenger side airbag deployed when they caught up with her in the 300 block of SW 2nd Street. “…contact was made with the single occupant driver and registered ornar, Jamie Hower, who matched the vehicle and driver description. Immediately, I observed Hower with heavily slurred speech, watery, glassy eyes, and a distinct odor of alcohol. I had Hower exit the driver’s seat of her vehicle and stand at the back of her vehicle due to her intoxication. Once outside of her vehicle, the odor of an alcoholic beverage bacame more distinct, and she was unsteady on her feet. I asked Hower if she needed any medical attention, she advised that she did not. While speaking with Hower, I asked her if she knew where she was, she advised that she was at her residence (399 SW 2nd St.); however, it should ba noted that her actual address is 1027 W Camino Real, approximately 1.3 miles away from where we were located.
Hower was read her constitutional warnings off a pre-printed card. I began speaking with Hower regarding the accident, and she advised that she was hit by a vehicle while on West Palmetto Park Road and SW 9th Avenue. When I asked her why she did not stay on the scene, she stated that the other drivers were mean, and she left.
Hower advised that after the unknown driver struck her vehicle, she got scared, and that was the reason why she failed to stay on scene. I asked her where she was coming from, and she advised a Mexican restaurant in Boca Raton, but could not specify which one. She explained that she had arrived there at approximately 2030 hours and had consumed one alcoholic beverage, a margarita.”
Hower is charged with refusal to submit to testing, DUI Property Damage/Injury to Property or Person (Enhanced), and leaving the scene of an accident. She is currently free on bond. A court date is pending.
