HURRICANE CENTER: Latest On System Developing East Of Florida

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The system added to the National Hurricane Center map earlier this week continues to develop. While it poses no immediate threat to land, it is showing signs of growth as we near the peak of hurricane season. Forecasters expect the relatively slow season to get busy over the next few weeks. Here is the Saturday afternoon update from the NHC, followed by other tropical waves being watched:

For the North Atlantic… Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico (America):

Eastern Tropical Atlantic: A tropical wave is forecast to emerge off the west coast of Africa on Sunday. Thereafter, environmental conditions could support some slow development of this system while it moves westward to west-northwestward at around 15 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic next week.

  • Formation chance through 48 hours…low…near 0 percent.
  • Formation chance through 7 days…low…30 percent.

TROPICAL WAVES

An eastern Atlantic tropical wave is along 34W, south of 19N, moving westward at 10-15 kt. No significant convection is occurring near this wave.

A central Atlantic tropical wave is along 63W, south of 18N, moving westward at 10-15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is observed south of 12N between 60W and 65W.

A western Caribbean tropical wave is along 85W, south of 20N, moving westward at 10-15 kt. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is evident west of 87W and S of 18N.
