DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Carmela Coffee at 8918 West Atlantic Avenue — at the intersection of West Atlantic and Lyons Road — was cited for multiple “high priority” health code violations during its most recent inspection. While Carmela Coffee was not ordered to close, it is now subject to an unannounced follow-up inspection.

Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the unedited list of violations as logged with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. We do not alter or edit these entries:

High Priority – Employee cracked raw shell eggs and then handled ready-to-eat food and/or clean equipment or utensils without washing hands. Observed employee crack raw shell eggs with gloves and then touch ready to eat spinach without changing gloves or washing hands. Advised employee to wash hands and change gloves. **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. Observed in Asber refrigeration raw salmon stored over cooked bacon. Operator stored salmon properly. **Corrected On-Site**

High Priority – Shell eggs not stored at an ambient air temperature of 45 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Observed Raw shell eggs 71F stored outside of cooler. Per operator eggs was held out of temperature less than four hours. Operator placed back into cooler to quick chill. **Corrective Action Taken**

Intermediate – Handwash sink not accessible for employee use at all times. Observed a no bucket stored in front of handwashing sink in kitchen near mop sink. Operator removed. **Corrected On-Site**

Intermediate – Handwash sink used for purposes other than handwashing. Observed a coffee cup stored in handwashing sink at bar station. Operator removed. **Corrected On-Site**

Intermediate – No paper towels or mechanical hand drying device provided at handwash sink. Observed no paper towels at handwashing sink in kitchen. Operator provided. **Corrected On-Site**

The inspection of Carmela Coffee was conducted on August 27th. A follow-up inspection is pending.
