BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A reminder to parents and guardians: there is no school today, Friday, October 17, 2025 for Palm Beach County public school students. The day off applies to all students in all grades district-wide.
The reason for the day off: it’s a teacher “planning” day. This comes after teachers were off on September 23rd and October 2nd. While many teachers work exceptionally hard in very challenging conditions, we encourage parents to drive by your local school on planning days to see how many staff cars are actually in the parking lot.
Teachers have another planning day on November 11th when, again, there will be no school for students. That’s followed by Thanksgiving break which runs November 24th through November 28th.
Winter Break for Palm Beach County public school students this year runs from December 22nd through January 6th. Teachers again have a planning day on January 5th — after two full weeks of vacation.
