DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach woman is accused of throwing a wooden shoe at a man’s head, cutting him and causing other injuries. Bertha Nimia Feldman, 56, of Delray Beach, was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability after officers investigating the call found her husband suffering from a bleeding head injury.

The incident began around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday near Lake Ida Road, when dispatch received a 911 call and heard a disturbance in the background before it was cut off. Officers were able to geo-locate a white Acura associated with the call and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, continuing at a slow speed until it stopped in the driveway of a residence on NW 27th Avenue.
According to the police report, the male driver immediately exited the vehicle with a visible welt on his forehead that was bleeding. The passenger, identified as Feldman, also exited the vehicle in a “hysteric state” and was detained.

The driver told officers he had been struck by his wife. The victim stated the argument began at their home after dinner when Feldman accused him of speaking to other women and took his phone. He alleged that after he banged on a locked bathroom door to retrieve it, she emerged and struck him in the forehead with a wooden-heeled shoe.

Feldman, who spoke with officers via a Spanish-speaking officer, confirmed she had taken her husband’s phone. However, she claimed the man’s injuries were self-inflicted, stating he had been “striking the door with his head” while trying to break in. When officers examined the home, they noted the bathroom door’s latch and frame were broken in a manner “consistent with kicking or pushing”. The report specifically notes that “no damage” was found on the door at the man’s head level.

Inside the home, officers located a pair of flip-flops with wooden heels near the kitchen island. The report states that “trace amounts of blood” were found on the floor near the shoes. Based on the evidence and the victim’s statement, Feldman was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, booked into jail, and later released on $3,000 bond.
