PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County middle school basketball coach is facing multiple felony charges related to the alleged transmission of obscene materials to a minor. Javian Dennard Golphin Jr., 25, of Belle Glade, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation.
According to an arrest report, Golphin is charged with soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct using a computer device, transmission of material harmful to a minor, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. All three charges are listed as felonies.

The investigation began Tuesday after authorities received a report that a minor had been receiving inappropriate messages from Golphin. Investigators determined that contact allegedly began in September over a social media app and later continued through text messages. The report states the minor had informed Golphin of her age.
The probable cause affidavit alleges that Golphin knowingly sent multiple explicit messages and videos to the minor between September and October. Golphin was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
The Palm Beach County School District Thursday afternoon alerted parents through an email from the Principal of Lake Shores Middle School in Belle Glade, the school where Golphin coached. Wrote the principal: “The School District holds all employees to the highest standards of conduct and is committed to a safe learning environment for all students. We expect every staff member to meet the professional and ethical standards necessary to support the safety of students. Following a complaint, Mr. Golphin was removed from the school on October 7, 2025 and placed under investigation. Mr. Golphin will not be returning to our campus.”
While Golphin coached at Lake Shores Middle School, he was apparently part of a traveling team that visited schools all over the county. Contact the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office if you have additional information regarding Golphin.
