A “swatting” incident in Boca Raton mid-day Wednesday led to a huge emergency response.

UPDATE: 1:39 p.m. — Police tell BocaNewsNow.com that this was a “SWATTING” incident — the investigation is underway into where the call originated.

UPDATE: 1:27 p.m. — Turns out there was no shooting. Despite a significant emergency response by police and rescuers, the shooting report was unfounded. Expect SW 18th street between Gonzalo and Isabel to reopen shortly. The road was closed by police and other first responders as they investigated the call which came in around 12:50 p.m.

The shooting apparently took place in a home on SW 18th. Roads in the area are closed. Expect delays until further notice. Police are asking people to avoid the area.
