BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman is facing a DUI charge after Boynton Beach Police say she was caught driving under the influence of a “cocktail” of prescription medication and marijuana on Tuesday night. Mariam Roberts, 39, of Maypan Drive in Boca, was stopped just before 9:30 p.m. after an officer allegedly watched her white Cadillac Escalade make an improper left turn from a straight-only lane near Boynton Beach Blvd. and Federal Highway.
According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the officer initiated a traffic stop after noting the improper turn and observing that the vehicle’s window tint appeared illegally dark. Upon making contact with Roberts, the officer reported smelling a “faint odor of marijuana” coming from the vehicle. Police say Roberts appeared confused about her travel plans, stating she was randomly driving around at night to see the beach, and displayed slow, slurred speech during the interaction.
Roberts reportedly admitted to police that she was also taking (medication), confirming she had taken her medication earlier that day. Additionally, the report states that she admitted to using a marijuana (THC) vape around 8:00 p.m., roughly an hour and a half before the traffic stop. While she agreed to submit to breath tests, the results were .000, indicating no alcohol was in her system. However, police say she struggled significantly with field sobriety exercises, including losing her balance during the walk-and-turn test and failing to maintain the one-leg stand.

Roberts was placed under arrest and transported to the Palm Beach County BAT facility, where she provided a urine sample for further testing. She was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and issued a citation for the improper turn. Court records indicate her bond was set at $1,000, and she is scheduled for an arraignment hearing in early December.
