Gun. Drugs. Surveillance Cameras In Boca Raton Backyard Shed.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman is facing a felony charge after police say she knowingly permitted her son to use a backyard shed as a distribution hub for narcotics. Renate Martin, 62, was arrested on November 14, 2025, by the Delray Beach Police Department following a raid at her home on Sea Island Terrace. She has been charged with renting or owning a structure for the purpose of trafficking or manufacturing a controlled substance.
The arrest was part of a joint operation between Delray Beach and Boca Raton police targeting the defendant’s son, Daniel Collins Martin. Authorities allege Daniel used a cell phone to facilitate a drug transaction involving just over 130 grams of marijuana, prompting investigators to secure a search warrant for the residence. During the raid, the Boca Raton Police SWAT team located a shed in the backyard equipped with surveillance cameras. Inside, agents reportedly discovered a handgun, shipping materials, and more than 25 pounds of marijuana products.
According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Renate Martin was present when the warrant was executed and agreed to speak with detectives after being read her rights. Police say she admitted to entering the shed a few days before the arrest and seeing the marijuana inventory. Investigators noted that she confessed to being aware of her son’s illicit activities and mentioned having a “deal” with him regarding the operation, though she did not provide further details about the arrangement.

Following her interview, Martin was transported to the Delray Beach Police Department, where police say she again discussed her knowledge of the drug storage on her property. Based on the findings and her statements, officers determined there was probable cause to charge her under Florida law, which prohibits owning a place with the knowledge that it will be used for drug trafficking. She was subsequently booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. She was later released on $5,000 bond. The home is in the University Park Country Club Estates section of Boca Raton.
