Investigators with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report that 42-year-old Ingrid Aida Calderon Reano passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Christmas Eve, a day after the collision. She was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck after its driver reportedly turned under a red light.
According to traffic investigators, 58-year-old Silvia Reano Espinoza was driving a 2022 Lincoln Corsair eastbound on Okeechobee Boulevard around 9:31 a.m.. As she approached the Florida Turnpike entrance, Espinoza allegedly made a northbound left turn while the traffic signal was red. This maneuver placed the Lincoln directly in the path of a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer traveling westbound, driven by 46-year-old Jonathan Andrew Zawislak of Boca Raton.
The impact was severe, with the front of Zawislak’s Jeep slamming into the passenger side of the Lincoln. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to rotate and slide toward the northwest, eventually coming to rest on a pedestrian island at the corner of the intersection. While Zawislak sustained only minor injuries, both Espinoza and Reano were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. No charges have been filed. The investigation continues.
