The City of Boca Raton is adjusting trash collection, park hours, and city office schedules for the New Year’s holiday.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton is preparing for the New Year’s Day holiday with several changes to municipal services, sanitation schedules, and recreational hours. Residents should take note of these adjustments for Thursday, January 1, 2026, as most city offices will be closed. 

Sanitation Schedule Adjustments
There will be no sanitation service on New Year’s Day. Service originally scheduled for Thursday, January 1, has been moved up to Wednesday, December 31. Collection for Friday, January 2, will remain on its normal schedule. Residents can sign up for text notifications by texting “SanitationAlert” (no space) to 38276 or by using the Recycle Coach App. 

Parks and Recreation Hours
While beaches and playgrounds will remain open with regular hours on January 1, Countess De Hoernle Park, Patch Reef Park, and Sugar Sand Park will all close early at 6 p.m. on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Other facility hours for December 31 and January 1 include: 

  • Community Centers: Boca Raton Community Center, Sugar Sand Community Center, and the Swim & Racquet Center will be open until 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve but closed on New Year’s Day. The Sugar Sand Carousel follows the same closure but shuts at 4 p.m. on the 31st. 
  • Tennis & Racquet Sports: The Boca Raton Tennis Center closes New Year’s Day. However, the Patch Reef Park Tennis Center will remain open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The Racquet Center will close at noon on New Year’s Day. 
  • Aquatics & Golf: The Swim Center and Meadows Park pools are closed January 1. Golfers can play at the Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club or Red Reef Family Golf Course from 7 or 7:30 a.m. until sunset on New Year’s Day. 
  • Libraries: Both the Downtown and Spanish River libraries will close at 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and remain closed through New Year’s Day. 
  • Other Facilities: The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, Sugar Sand Field House, and the City Cemetery will all be closed on January 1. The Tim Huxhold Skate Park & Shuffleboard Courts will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the holiday. 
    Public Safety and Administration

City offices and services at 201 West Palmetto Park Road will resume normal operations on Friday, January 2. Park Rangers HQ will maintain consistent hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the holiday period.
