City Tells Residents To Stop Irrigation. No Sprinklers. No Watering.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — That massive water main break in Delray Beach isn’t only affecting drinking water, but irrigation as well. The City of Delray Beach is asking all residents to refrain from using water for irrigation until Tuesday as the City works to rectify the situation. As we reported on Saturday, a contractor hit a water main that caused massive issues. The City of Delray Beach is now receiving water from Boca Raton and Boynton Beach.
Here’s the latest message from the City of Delray Beach. We remind you this is for city water customers only. If you live in unincorporated Delray Beach and are serviced by Palm Beach County water, you are not affected:
“As a result of a recent raw water main break, the City of Delray Beach is urging residents and businesses to stop all lawn and landscape irrigation for the next 72 hours. This helps prevent low water pressure and reduces the likelihood of a citywide boil water notice.
To maintain reliable service during repairs, the City has temporarily opened emergency interconnections with the City of Boca Raton and the City of Boynton Beach.
Effective today, the free chlorine period originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, through Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, has begun early to support system reliability during repairs.
City staff is working diligently to restore normal operations and maintain safe, reliable water service.”
