Teachers Get Extra Day After Weeks Off. Parents Can’t Restart The Year Yet…
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A reminder to parents expected to start the work year today: you have one more day of finding something for your public school students to do. The Palm Beach County School District, as it seems to do every year, has again given teachers a day to “plan” after being off since before Christmas. That means there’s no school today for Palm Beach County public students.
While public school students spend the day without instruction, private school students in the area are back at work. American Heritage, St. Andrews, and North Broward Prep resume school today.
Palm Beach County School District students do not return until tomorrow. Those students will then spend nine days in school until they are off again on January 19th. That’s followed by another day off on February 18th.
Spring break for Palm Beach County public school students and teachers starts on March 16th and continues through March 20th. Oh wait, make that March 23rd. Teachers have another planning day on the Monday after they are off for a week for spring break.
