Travel Trouble
Flights cancellations are increasing at South Florida airports as the winter storm pounds much of the United States.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The weather in South Florida is great but travelers trying to get here — or out of here — are likely hot under the collar as the massive winter storm is resulting in a huge number of airline cancellations. All local airports: PBI, FLL, and MIA, have stranded fliers as airlines can’t move planes in or out.

As of mid-day Saturday, Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport has logged 81 cancellations with 76 delays. Leading the pack according to data provided by FlightAware: JetBlue with 33 cancellations and American Airlines with 16. Spirit, Southwest, and Air Canada are also on the list. Delta has not canceled any flights as of mid-day into or out of FLL.

At Miami International Airport: 82 flights are now canceled with 100 flights delayed. American Airlines, the major carrier at MIA, unsurprisingly has the most cancellations so far with 41. Southwest, Envoy, Republic, and Air Canada also have axed flights.

At Palm Beach International Airport, 20 flights have been canceled and 25 delayed. American Airlines leads the cancellation pack at PBI with 14, followed by JetBlue with 4 and Spirit with 2.

The situation is expected to get much worse before it gets better. Remember, airlines are NOT responsible for lodging or food if the delay is due to weather. If your flight is canceled, however, you are entitled to a refund.
