
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Another night of extremely cold weather in Palm Beach County is again leading to officials opening cold weather shelters for those who need a place to stay warm. Here is the official announcement issued Sunday afternoon by the Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center:
>> The Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management (DEM) has activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to a Level III – Enhanced Monitoring due to anticipated cold weather.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a cold weather advisory and freeze warning that impacts Palm Beach County. The cold weather advisory is in effect from 7:00 P.M. this evening to 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 2, 2026. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
In order to protect those seeking refuge from the cold during the overnight periods, the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management (DEM) has activated the Cold Weather Shelter Plan for Palm Beach County.
On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the following cold weather shelters will open overnight beginning at 7:00 P.M. and close at 9:00 A.M.:
