A small plane crashed Monday afternoon in West Boynton Beach.

UPDATE at 4 p.m. — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue just provided this official statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “At approximately 3:15, PBCFR was dispatched to a reported aircraft incident at the 10000 block of Denoeu Road in western Boynton Beach.  This incident occurred at a private aviation community. Initial arriving units found a glider had landed approximately 100 yards south of a grass landing area.  One person was transported under trauma alert criteria to a trauma center. “

BocaNewsNow.com learned the plane, identified as a small single engine glider, crashed in the area of the 10600 block of Denoeu Road. That’s identified in Palm Beach County records as the Willis Gliderport.

Initial information shared with BocaNewsNow.com indicates one man was on the plane and was was rushed to Delray Medical Center in critical condition. There was no fire or smoke seen by witnesses who called 911 after apparently witnessesing the plane going down.

It’s unclear if the plane had departed from the glider park or was attempting to land at the time of the incident. Check back later Monday for additional details.
