BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman is accused by the West Palm Beach Police Department of ambushing a woman with mace or other chemcial agent during a setup orchestrated via text message. Jennifer Montes, 37, was arrested and charged with “burglary with assault or battery” and false imprisonment following the investigation into the attack.

According to the police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the incident began when the victim received a text message from a number she believed belonged to her ex-boyfriend, asking her to meet him. The victim told police she was skeptical and thought the request might be a “trap,” but she drove to the location anyway and parked her vehicle. Shortly after she arrived, a white van pulled up directly behind her car, blocking her exit, and a woman exited the van to approach the victim’s driver-side door.

Police allege that the woman — later identified as Montes — opened the victim’s door and sprayed her with a chemical agent believed to be mace or a pepper-spray substance. The victim was able to push the attacker away, close her door, and ram the white van with her own vehicle to escape the blockade. Responding officers noted that the victim’s vehicle was covered in a “brown foamy residue” consistent with pepper spray, and the victim appeared visibly distressed with facial redness.

Investigators connected Montes to the incident after discovering she had been involved in a domestic dispute with the victim’s ex-boyfriend in November 2025. Police reviewed body camera footage from that previous altercation and realized Montes matched the description of the attacker. The victim subsequently identified Montes as the assailant with “100% confidence” during a photo lineup, leading to her arrest. It is unclear of Montes is in a relationship with her alleged victim’s ex.

The alleged incident took place in late January. Montes was arrested on Saturday. She posted $30,000 bond on Monday and lists house on White Oak Avenue in Boca Raton as her home address.
