Remember When Fake ID Was A Right Of Passage? Now It’s A Passage To The Palm Beach County Jail.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton resident is facing a felony charge after a hit-and-run investigation led police to discover a fake out-of-state driver’s license. Haskell Riley Emerson was arrested Friday afternon by the Boynton Beach Police Department. His arrest report was just provided to BocaNewsNow.com.
Boynton cops were initially investigating a hit-and-run crash at 2100 Highridge Road when they discovered that the identification Emerson originally provided could not be verified. While looking for vehicle documentation with Emerson’s permission, an officer spotted a South Carolina driver’s license featuring Emerson’s photo in what police say was plain view on the rear passenger floorboard.
According to the arrest report, Emerson allowed police to retrieve the card and admitted it was his “fake ID”. After being read his Miranda rights, he told officers that a friend had given him the South Carolina license two months prior because “he’s in college”. Emerson reportedly acknowledged knowing the license contained a fake name and an improper date of birth, but admitted he was still using it for personal identification.
Emerson, whose permanent address is listed in the Cit of Boca Raton, was officially charged with unauthorized possession of a driver’s license or ID card. The offense is classified as a felony. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
