
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The FBI and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office issued an update Tuesday regarding the fatal shooting at Mar-A-Lago. We are publishing the unedited announcement:
FBI Miami, in coordination with the United States Secret Service, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and FBI Charlotte, continues to investigate the fatal officer-involved shooting at Mar-a-Lago during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 22, 2026.
The following is an update of the investigative steps taken thus far:
– The deceased subject is identified as Austin Tucker Martin, 21, of Moore County, North Carolina.
– Following the shooting, FBI Miami secured the scene of the shooting and members of the Evidence Response Team collected evidence for further analysis. The scene was released on Sunday evening.
– FBI Charlotte went to the subject’s residence in Moore County, North Carolina, where they collected additional evidence. The scene was released early Monday morning.
– FBI Miami located and took possession of the subject’s vehicle which was transported to a secure FBI facility for further evidence processing.
– Other investigative activities include conducting interviews with family, friends, and acquaintances of the subject, going through digital devices, tracing his route from North Carolina to Palm Beach County, reviewing social media activity, and conducting neighborhood canvases.
“Part of the ongoing investigation is to build a timeline of Martin’s movements, stops, purchases, and interactions with other people during his drive from North Carolina to Palm Beach County in addition to attempting to establish a possible motive,” said Brett Skiles, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Miami.
