BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Unless something isn’t calculating correctly with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, BOTH ballot measures for the City of Boca Raton failed — and failed big — Tuesday night.
With all 38 precincts reporting as of 8:22 p.m., the referendum question asking if voters support the issuance of bonds to fund a new state of the art police headquarters failed miserably. 54.99 percent of those voting said NO, with 45.41 percent saying yes.
On the issue of the City of Boca Raton entering into a public/private partnership to dramatically change the face of downtown Boca Raton, voters made it very clear they have no interest. 74.44-percent of those voting said NO, with just 25.56 saying “yes.” While officials have suggested that both of these issues would die if voters voted against, we’ll see what happens over the next several months.
Who is leading the City of Boca Raton may be an open question for a while. Andy Thompson and Mike Lebelson are neck-and-neck with all precincts reporting — each with 39-percent of the vote. Fran Nachlas logged just 20 percent of the vote.
Michelle Grau won City Council Seat A with 66-percent of the vote, Jon Pearlman easily won City Council Seat B with 52-percent of the vote, Stacy Sipple won City Council Seat D with 55-percent of the vote. We note the power of their grassroots campaigning: all three were leaders and supporters of the “Save Boca” movement which rallied hard against the Boca Raton private/public expansion.
