BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — As a reminder to never, ever charge your scooter inside your house, Boca Raton Fire Rescue spent a good portion of Monday night dealing with a scooter fire inside an apartment on Camino Real.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Boca Raton Fire Rescue was sent to the multi-unit dwelling at SW 4th Avenue and Camino Real around 8:45 p.m. after someone reported that a scooter — charging in an apartment — was smoking.

Firefighters confirmed that a battery was burning. The building was evacuated as fire professionals used special equipment used to deal with burning batteries in an effort to limit damage. They were overall successful — everyone was allowed back inside a few hours later. No one was injured.

If you have a scooter: don’t charge it inside. There are constantly reports nationwide of building fires sparked by e-scooters that ignite and burn.
