PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Democrat Emily Gregory Tuesday night won the special election that covers Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago. Gegory was battling Republican Jon Maples for the State House District 87 seat.

As reported nationally on Tuesday, Donald Trump — who continues to fight the legitimacy of mail-in ballots — actually submitted a mail-in ballot in this race. He endorsed Jon Maples. He presumably voted for Jon Maples as well.

Gregory beat Maples by nearly 1000 votes as of 8:30 Tuesday night with most of the votes counted. By the numbers: Emily Gregory logged 17,113 votes, with Jon Maples receiving 16,316 votes. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections says all precincts have now reported.

Emily Gregory was born and raised on Treasure Coast. Jon Maples is a businessman, grew up in Panama City, and says he was the first member of his family to go to college.
