South Florida Hurricane Season Nears…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Hurricane season, believe it or not, is less than ten weeks away. The private forecasting firm AccuWeather just released its first look at the upcoming season.
While we respect their work and direct you to their website for full details, here are the headlines: AccuWeather predicts 11-16 named storms, with 4-7 of them reaching hurricane status. Of those storms, 2-4 could reach “major” status, and 3-5 are expected to directly impact the U.S. mainland.
Remember: the coast is huge. A hurricane affecting the mainland could be anywhere from the Gulf of Mexico (yes, that’s its name), to the Keys, all the way up to the coast of Maine. South Florida isn’t the only game in town.
That said, it’s never too soon to start thinking about what you may need if a hurricane were to strike. We fully acknowledge it’s very, very early to be concerned about anything, but if you see sale on supplies you may need over the summer, go for it.
We expect several other forecasts over the next few weeks, including from Colorado State University which is considered to be the gold standard, and the National Hurricane Center.
