BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Florida Atlantic University marked its 65th anniversary in style, raising more than $2.5 million for student-success initiatives at Soirée 65, the university’s annual President’s Gala. More than 1,000 guests joined FAU President Adam Hasner and First Lady Jillian Hasner for the milestone celebration, which was presented by Cathy and Abdol Moabery. Gala co-chairs were Stacey Packer and Carrie Rubin.

Funds raised will support two critical needs for FAU students: stipends for community and nonprofit internships that are currently unpaid, and housing scholarships to help students manage the high cost of living off campus. FAU officials say that Boca Raton ranks as the second most expensive college town in America, making financial support particularly urgent for students trying to complete their degrees while covering rent and tuition.

“I am overwhelmed by the support of Soirée 65,” President Hasner said in a statement. “We know the numbers: students who complete internships are far more likely to find employment quickly after graduation and command higher starting salaries. But behind every data point is a student navigating the second most expensive college town in America, balancing rent, tuition, and the hope of a future career.”

The gala drew significant support from the business and philanthropic community. President’s Circle Sponsors giving $100,000 included D-Wave Quantum, The GEO Group Foundation, Christina and Benjamin Macfarland and Storage Rentals of America, Wayne and Lucretia Weiner, and the Vidal-Duart Family Foundation. Diamond Sponsors at the $65,000 level were Amy and Mike Kazma, and Banyan Development and PEBB Enterprises.

The event also showcased more than 100 FAU students, including the Army ROTC Color Guard, Jazz Quintet, Marching Band, and performers from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The gala was held at The Boca Raton resort.
